Change For The Better

It’s January 1, the day considered to be the first page of this year’s first chapter.  A fresh new year could mean a fresh new start to a lot of us.  May it be a healthier new you, a more mature disposition, saving lots of money or a total make over for an amiable personality, changing for the better has always been a good preliminary and starting point for a day like this.

Change for the BetterAn effective change for the better will not take just a day, it would I guess be more effective if it be done one day at a time.  Little by little.  Can you just imagine what we would be at the end of the year if in each day of it there are some positive changes in us?  That would be 365 little changes and improvements that we could have.

I have to have these changes because I feel that I owe my own life the very best that I could personally offer.  Also, I believe that these changes can eventually lead to positive prospects and possibilities.  I don’t intend to be a perfect person since that would literally be impossible.  But looking at each day as a new chance at being the best that I could possibly can would be my ultimate agenda.

May it be about the changes in my body, improvements in my pocket, enhancement in my personality, progress of my brain or the upgrading and rebooting of my soul, “Change for the Better” would be my 2014 aspiration, target and intention.

I Must Be A Thai In The Past

If reincarnation is true, I would like to believe that I am a Thai royal in the second to the last life before the one I am in now.  I am saying this because every time I am given the time, money and god-given opportunity to travel to Bangkok, Thailand I would always grab it.

And every time my silky smooth feet would land in Bangkok, I never miss the opportunity to visit the Grand Palace complex.  It is the very palace complex where the Kings of Siam reside in the past.

And every time I visit, The Grand Palace never ceases to amaze me.  Aside from having so much vitamin D because of the blazing heat of the sun, I am always at awe at the beauty, grandeur and magnificence of its colorful history, intricate designs and fabulous architecture.

My Wish for the Year 2013? Spell It!

money scrabblePeople need money.  But for me, I don’t just need money because what I want is MORE MONEY!   People need money to survive and live a normal life.  Money allows us to buy what we want and what we need.  It is indeed not the guarantee to make people happy but let us face the fact that it is one potent medium that gives us vicarious pleasure.

Some even say that it is the root of all evil.  But let us also confront the truth that it bridges the gap for us to have roof over our head, food on the table, clean water, electricity, gas, transportation and even medicine when we are under the weather.  And if used properly it could enhance other’s lives through donations, charities and poverty alleviation.  Therefore having loads of money can be a powerful catalyst to spread the… spell it! L. O. V. E.

I know a lot of happy people who gets along fine without money.  But I don’t want to be like them.  I want to be happy and at the same time own truckloads of money.  I guess there’s nothing wrong with wanting the good things in your life.  Don’t get me wrong because I intend to earn, have and own money in a virtuous manner.  No way will I be a crook.  And I know I’m smarter than the devil so I won’t sell my soul just to have it.

I don’t know how much money I need.  But one thing is for sure I want mountains and mountains of it.  I want money running out of my butt.  I want money wafting out of my ears.  I want money growing out from my pimples.  Call me greedy, call me insane but I want to be a money magnet.

I guess now you know what my absurd yet practical wish for this New Year… spell it! M. O. N. E. Y. and more of it.

Oo na. Mababaw na kung mababaw. Pero aym shur… gusto mo rin nyan!

What I Will Bring At Les Miserables Movie-Musical

When watching a well anticipated movie, people would usually bring either a bag of popcorn or chips with a super-sized tumbler of soda.  Some would make sure to bring a hankie especially when they expect to cry over a tragic story. While others would bring or don themselves with costumes of their favorite cartoon character or action hero of the movie they are to watch.

But when the Cameron Mackintosh movie-musical Les Miserables will be shown here in the Philippines, I won’t bring a bag of popcorn, a can of soda, a handkerchief neither would I wear a 19th century inspired French hat or dress up to look like Jean Valjean.  Instead, I would bring a duct tape.

I would bring a duct tape to fasten it on my mouth to keep me from singing on the top of my lungs the lines of the popular songs of this global musical sensation.

Too bad the movie can only be shown in the Philippines after the Christmas Season.  No thanks to the Metro Manila Filmfest.

I’m Now A Samsung Fan

I am bitten by a bug called Samsung.  Last week I posted on my Facebook that I want a Samsung Galaxy Note II for my upcoming birthday.  Actually, I have yet to own a Samsung gadget but nevertheless the first and only Samsung unit I purchased is actually not a gadget but a huge refrigerator as a gift for Nengkoy.  Today, after having chanced upon an adorable Thai short-film entitled “Love at First Flight“, I can officially say that I am a Samsung fan.

Love at First Flight is a 30-minute Samsung commercial-ad-cum-romantic-comedy movie.  The story, the Thai actors and the plot are sooo cute. The movie is such a bastion of pure charm.  It would be pretty hard not to purchase yourself a Samsung gadget after watching this…

No wonder Samsung is the best selling electronic gadget of our time.  And it looks like Samsung’s virtual ship has sailed and is watching how Apple gets smaller and smaller who’s standing on the shore punching its fists up in the air…

Bus Movies

On a long journey via bus what do you usually do? Are you the type who would bring tons of salty chips to nibble? Are you the forty winks aficionado? Are you the bus’ bookworm? Are you the creature who would simply gaze outside the window?  Or are you the beast who would drain your battery’s digital gizmo?

Very long travels by bus could be very daunting.  That is why a lot of bus companies try to be innovative by introducing various facilities available inside these massive roadsters – free WiFi; cool drinks and sandwiches for sale; air conditioning; toilet facility; shock-proof LCD flat screen TV with DVD player; reclining chairs, etc.  These add-on features aims to further enhance passenger’s comfort over a lengthy journey.

I have been to two long journeys via transit buses in the past week (first was an 8-hour journey to Baguio and just the other day was the two-and-a-half-hour travel to Magalang, Pampanga).  Adding up all the hours I spent inside the bus on a round-trip-basis would be a total of 21 hours.

While inside those buses, I was all the types I inquired above.  But what I noticed every time a movie will have to be played on TV inside a Filipino bus, the film has to be a Hollywood movie.  I will not rant about the pirated DVD being used by these bus companies but instead the type of movie being shown.

I guess it would have been better and my focus would have been more stuck on TV if the movie being shown were the black and white 50’s and 60’s Filipino film that were shown in the pinalakang tabing (silver screen).  The time spent inside the bus could have been more pleasant and comforting seeing the young and stunning Gloria Romero, the then skinny Dolphy and plump Panchito and Dely Atay-atayan, the bubbly Rosemarie Sonora, debonair Mario Montenegro as well as suave Rogelio Dela Rosa or Diomedes Maturan.  The Pinoy film to be shown would be at its best if, of course, the contrabida (villain) would be the wicked Bella Flores.

Further to this suggestion, it would be best if contemporary Filipino short indie films would be featured in between these classic full length movies.  This I guess would be one great vehicle for the unrecognized and undistributed yet artistic short indie films gain wider viewership.

If this fantasy would turn out to become a reality in the future, this would improve and further bind Pinoy cultural cohesiveness.  It presents the Pinoy film heritage and at the same time makes the riding public aware of the richness of the prevailing film industry.

Spending bus hours on the road could have been more comfortable and enjoyable!

Colors of Abe’s Farm by a Newbie in Photography

Here is my first venture into the world of photography using only my iPhone as my tool as well as the wonders of photo apps, Instagram and Camera360.  As a newbie, I decided to start with landscape, still life and plants as my subject using only the natural light.  These photos were taken at Abe’s Farm located in Magalang, Pampanga.

You be the judge if I have the inkling and if this could be my possible fallback career…

But then again, Abe’s Farm is such a beautiful place any clear, sharp and on-focus shot you make still ends-up being very nice.

Konti pang praktis!

Pararampam! Pararampam!

According to Simon Cowell a contestant’s choice of song in a singing competition is one humongous factor for the judges and the viewing public to consider the contestant as a good contender.  Have you ever wondered what song are you gonna sing if you are to audition in a talent-reality show?

I do.  Here’s my chosen song…

David, Goliath and an Angry Bird

I have always wondered how David toppled down Goliath.  There must be something in the story of these two characters which has yet to be unraveled.  The picture below which I delicately altered is one personal theory.

david, goliath and an angry bird

On a more serious note, like the great David, I believe that all of us are exquisite, noble and powerful beyond our wildest fantasies.  I believe that every human makeup has an Angry-Bird-like weapon somewhere deep within ones persona.  It may be a sharp wit, a drop-dead gorgeous body, a rare talent, or a remarkable positive character trait.

And yet, a lot of us devalue ourselves and our capacities with weak alibis and hindering beliefs.  Maybe the reason why we do self-devaluations is because we are either too afraid of failures or too scared of successes.   That is why we end up like Goliath.

So let’s be like David and try unraveling our Angry Bird so as to conquer our life’s Goliath.
