Dami Im, X Factor Winner (Australia Got It Right)

Melinda Doolittle, David Archuleta and Jessica Sanchez of American Idol, Ella Henderson of X Factor (UK), Marco Germar of So You Think You Can Dance (U.S.) and most recently Morisette Amon of The Voice (Philippines) were the awesome talents I personally rooted for in their respective contest seasons in the past.  Click the name of these talents to read my posts about them for me to prove my point.  I can’t seem to remember when was the last time that my chosen contender won the contest he or she is competing on TV.

Strangely, despite their breathtaking performances, no one among these brilliant and gifted contestants did won in their respective talent contests.  They were beaten by other competitors as oddly voted by their respective country’s viewers.  Honestly, I’d rather observe a grass growing than listen or watch these so called winners perform.

Anyway, it seems that it was not America, nor the UK, nor the Philippines talent contests that has the right sagacity and discernment for what a true talent really means.  Surprisingly, Australia does have the right vibe, groove and keenness on this matter.  I am saying this because just tonight, Australia has voted and honored Dami Im to be this year’s X Factor (Australia) WINNER!!!

I was slightly freaked out when the host announced who this year’s winner was.  I was clapping and cheering when Dami Im’s name was called.  All I can say is that endearing Australia got it right in the pocket…  Aussies know what exceptional talent is…

Here’s the spectacular and one-of-a-kind final number of Dami Im singing Purple Rain…

Congratulations Dami Im!!! Congratulations Australia!!!

Sa sobrang galak, parang gusto kong maligo ng may pakpak!

Dami Im and The Best Judges’ Ovation

damiimarmyI told myself that I would only write about Dami Im when she has been proclaimed the winner of X Factor Australia this year.  But with the amazing talent that Dami Im has just shown in the grand finals night tonight, I could not contain myself to not write about it anymore.

Being a self-proclaimed member of the Dami Army let this blog be a portal for dear Australia to know that one world class talent and superstar is in the person of Dami Im.  It would be a crime if she won’t win the X Factor Australia 2013.

So to dear Australia, I hope you vote for Dami Im!!!  Here’s her last performance that would surely seal the deal.  This video I suppose also contains the best judges’ ovation of any talent show in the world.

Winner or not, I will definitely miss her when the show ends…

Counting Stars by OneRepublic

Poetic genius, that’s how I would simply describe this song.  Though not a new song, this track has actually been the music I kept on playing and listening to inside my bathroom every morning while I take a bath for the past two weeks.  I would even sing along loudly, as in at the top of my horrible out-of-tune voice.

I don’t know why I am so stuck and fascinated by its catchy beat.  Or maybe it’s the lyrics of the song that kept me captivated.  It tells you about overcoming the hideous parts of life and finding a greater meaning of it.  It proclaims that sometimes taking risks in life are doorways to the best moments of your existence.  The ones you were meant to experience and live to see.

Or maybe the reason why I so like this song is because of my internal desire for an insane precursor that something big is coming.  Because, instead of counting dollars I’d soon be counting stars!

This song is dedicated to me! Go me!

Enlisted To The Dami Army

It’s official.  I am an enlisted personnel of the army, The Dami Army that is.  I have done this by pressing the Like icon button of her Facebook page and posting this article into this blog.

I followed the progress and features of this year’s X Factor Australia initially by being so mesmerized by the Jai Waetford audition, this year’s first audition feature.  But during that same first day of audition-features I was equally impressed by the most awkward looking lady singing Hero by Mariah Carey as her audition piece.

But I totally became a fan when she performed during the bootcamp portion of the competition.  There was a major mishap yet she rose to the occasion and performed a very beautiful number.

She actually was dropped from the competition because of this.  Yet fate I guess is truly on her side to become one popular artist because she was the one who got a surprise call when one of the finalists backed out from the show.  From then on, I continued looking after how Dami Im has performed in the contest.

Dami Im is the personification of “awkward” being “the new awesome”.  Her inelegance and gawkiness is so fresh and captivating.  What is so damn great about Dami is when she starts singing her un-polish-ness just disappears right before your eyes and transformation into a remarkable singing talent just comes into sight.  You would not believe that the awesome voice is actually coming out from such an awkward, down-to-earth and naive-looking lady.

As of this writing, she just passed through the week 4 of the finals singing Roar by Katy Perry…  Here is Dami Im singing a disco hit of the late ’70s, her live performance during the week 3 of the finals…

I guess her magnificent talent is coming from the pureness and sweetness of her heart.  If she gets eliminated in the program, I think it is because she is too good for X Factor.

Shayn, shayn, shayn Dami!

Morisette a Phillie and Dami an Aussie

The ladies that I am rooting for in their respective singing battles…  Dami Im of X Factor Austalia and Morisette Amon of The Voice Philippines.  Both are gems.  Their passions are incredible.  And are definitely show stoppers…

These girls are on fire!!!  Their performances every week are stunning!!!

Dami army is in full force!

The future is set for Morisette!

Lego House

I know there’s a lot of going on in the world and despite this I waste a significant amount of life on YouTube.  And on YouTube is where I discovered Ed Sheeran along with his beautiful song entitled Lego House…

Though showed-up and only seen at 3:30 in the video, Ed Sheeran for me is far too beautiful.  Like far, like damn far!

Ping An Gave Me Goosebumps Surplus

Last year, there was a big mistake that the Chinese populace made.  They failed to choose Ping An as their last year’s winner of “The Voice China”.  They settled for a singer with mediocre vocal skills with above average panache.  It was like China settled for a grape juice when an expensive wine is very much available.

Watch and listen to China’s best singer and experience goosebumps surplus from Ping An.

Acid Rain On Treadmill

treadmillI don’t run.  I brisk walk.

Brisk walking is one great exercise.  It makes you healthy. But brisk walking outdoors in a place called Metro Manila would actually make you more sick than healthy. The air is so polluted it would be stupid to jog or brisk walk outside.  And if tough luck besets upon you droplets of acid rain may even infiltrate your lungs making you even more prone to illness.

That is why a Metro Manila inhabitant like me would rather settle to go to a gym and do my brisk walking on a painfully boring treadmill.  Let me be clear that I do not detest Metro Manila the way I have grown to detest the treadmill with growing hatred.

Brisk walking on the treadmill is a mental game for me.  Aside from shaping up my delicious mortal chassis, brisk walking on a treadmill for me is an exercise of mental toughness.  It is because brisk walking on a treadmill is so god awfully boring.  There’s nothing more dreadful than seeing the seconds count down and being fully aware of how much time is still left and the calories you have shred off was actually just equivalent to a spoon of mayonnaise.

To ease the agony of boredom and win the battle against this mentally tormenting machine, I have sought the service and assistance of musical artists particularly of the dance-electronic genre. Now I shape up and step on a treadmill with matching beats.  My walk has gone interesting since the pacing and distance of each stride depends on the beats of the music on my earphones.

Music of Alexis Jordan has been an often tune in my playlist every time I step on the treadmill.  She’s got great selection of songs with varying fast beats.  The most recent one that I truly enjoy listening to is ironically entitled Acid Rain.  This is the Acid Rain that will definitely not hurt at all. Now, boost up the volume and start listening!

Chinito By Yeng Constantino

ChinitoI don’t need to hear vocal fireworks to make me decide if a song is impressive or not.  That is why I like the fresh, vivacious and gorgeously basic beat of Chinito sang by the prolific Yeng Constantino.

I like Yeng because she seems to possess a preternatural gift for turning clichés into light yet deeply affecting songs.  In the song Chinito, Yeng exhibits both weariness and innocence in her voice yet manages to convey hope and despair in equal measure.

As for the music video, it’s very Asian! There’s a little of Korean, Japanese and Chinese in the video yet it is very Filipino. I can’t remember which Filipino music video has impressed me this much in the past.  I can say that this is one cute, impressive and intricately well thought type of concept for a music video.  Even the brilliant choreography is something to be praised about (love the cool snapping shoulders).

I wonder how non-Filipinos would receive this music and its video…

Kyut, kyut…
