What was your song last year? What melody, lyrics and tempo fused into one that moved you and can be considered your best representation last year? What was that tune in 2018 which you would consider your song?
I got two. One is a song that I personally did not chose until someone told me it’s me. My sister after we both have watched the concert of Calum Scott in Manila uttered that No Matter What was so me. “It fits you” she uttered without me asking her. Those 3 words she said got stuck and will seem to be forever embedded in my wits!
My 2018 second song is Para Sa Akin. Fittingly a Tagalog song, which implies a longing for someone, an aspiration and hoping to be lucky that someone will fall, a promise to be good in case someone falls and without tension and strain letting someone’s affectionate heart beats for me. I am middle aged, yet, finding someone special is still the ultimate thing that I have yet to receive from the heavens. Thus, Para Sa Akin (translation: For Me) simply befits me.
Like any other Christian family, my family every year is at the heart of Christmas. 2018 Christmas celebration is no different from the yearly revelry that occurs at Nengkoy’s abode. This year though is a little different because there is a little additional member of the family, my 8-month old grandnephew Arziolo.
And as usual, I am the designated person to take photos of the party. There were so much photos I took last Christmas Eve that I was able to create a short video out from it. Enjoy watching…
From Nengkoy and my whole family, let me again greet everybody a very Merry Christmas! And since this post covers a YouTube video, let me express how vloggers would invite viewers by saying: “Hi guys!!! Don’t forget to press the like button and subscribe in this channel!” Hahaha!
Yey! Miss Universe 2018 is Philippines! First of all, I want to say congratulations to everyone in my country. Catriona Gray, our representative in this year’s edition of Miss Universe was crowned the queen!
Catriona Gray was amazing throughout the Miss Universe pageant show. She set a new standard of beauty pageant “walk” because of her now viral and infamous slow-mo twirl. And her red fire gown during the finals night reminded me of Katniss Everdeen in the book Hunger Games! She was the clear winner and she was indeed a cut above the rest!
Since joining the elite beauty pageant world, Catriona has been amazing. She has always been the girl to beat. She did us proud when she landed top 5 in Ms. World a couple of years ago. I thought during that contest, she should have won because aside from being so stunning, she gave the best answer. But though she was robbed in that contest, I am now thankful that she was because she obviously is up for bigger and better things.
The Ms. World organizers must now be scratching their dense and dimwitted heads. So thank you Ms. World for letting us down during that time because otherwise, my country would have not clinched the most coveted pageant title in the universe for the fourth time.
In the past week, I got the chance to view YouTube videos of Catriona’s journey in Ms. Universe. Her approach was really different as compared to other equally amazing Ms. Philippines representatives in the past. Catriona chose to put meaning and representations in almost all elements of her joining the Ms. Universe pageant. She is so in love with the culture and colors of the Philippines, that she made sure these are included in her presentations.
After watching those videos, you would just know how much effort, time, dedication and heart was poured by Catriona in reaching for her ultimate goal of being crowned as the new Miss Universe. Equipped with beauty, charm, sharp thinking and excellent communication skills, Catriona Gray truly deserves to win!
How would you feel seeing your baby photos on Youtube? That is what I thought of while I was uploading a collage of Arziolo’s photo on Youtube. I hope that this baby would be glad in case he sees this when he grows up or he can always just press “report” and relay his reason for flagging this video.
Arziolo is Nengkoy’s great-grandson by the way… These photos are too cute not to share for everybody’s viewing pleasure!
To test if you’re a fan and love Broadway musicals, you would be able to finish watching and listening to this non-sense of a product face-cleanser commercial.
But if you just stopped and suddenly scrolled down or continue with web surfing while in the middle of this Olay commercial, it only signifies that watching at least 1 Broadway musical will never be or has never been in your bucket list.
I bet you watched the whole thing! I’ve seen the commercial and finished it 3 times. And I can’t wait to wash my face!
No one deserves to be forgotten…no one deserves to fade away…
I totally agree with this song!
I am actually dedicating this song to Cupid who seem to have run out of arrows and have forgotten to strike someone who is supposed to be my mate and life companion. My goodness! I seem to have disappeared in Cupid’s memory, mind and consciousness! Hahaha!
Let me also dedicate this song to St Anthony, the miracle worker who assists people in finding their true love. My name must have disappeared from St Anthony’s long and complicated list! That is why I am dedicating this song to him. Mwahaha!
But seriously, this song is massively inspiring. It has a very touching sets of lyrics! I love it for it advocates the value of being valued and remembered
Vloggers and bloggers living comfy life outside the Philippines but has been here in my country seem so fascinated with Jollibee, the number one fast food chain here in the Philippines. Every foreigner who’s been here in the Philippines never seem to fail to chronicle their first Jollibee Chickenjoy or Yumburger experience. Youtube videos of vloggers trying Jollibee for the first time are so plenty, it makes me bored.
Every foreigner seem so entranced as if their visit, adventure and experience here in the Philippines would not be complete if they fail to dine at Jollibee. These foreigners don’t realize (I guess until they have tasted Chickenjoy) that there really is nothing unique and extraordinary with the palatal offering of this fastfood staple. Kudos to the powers of Jollibee’s advertising campaign and marketing team.
I really have nothing against the giant Jollibee, except for the worst form of spaghetti that they sell, but for me foreign bloggers and vloggers alike who plans to come and visit, should instead try for themselves a dish that is truly Filipino. It is named Knock-Out Kare-Kare. Why then am I suggesting it? First is because Knock-Out Kare-Kare is a fusion of two popular and authentic Filipino dishes, the Krispy Pata (deep fried pig trotters and knuckles) and the Kare-Kare (Philippine oxtail and ox tripe stew in thick savory peanut sauce). Therefore, having this dish is like experiencing two Filipino gastronomic experiences rolled into one. Second is because Knock-Out Kare-Kare is not as creepy as that of the popular Balut or Dinuguan. A lot of foreigners have considered Filipino cuisine to be so fierce and ferocious. This is because of the scary Balut and the vicious looking Dinuguan. But in Knock-Out Kare-Kare, there really is nothing to be terrified about. The golden-brown crispy skin of the Crispy Pata teases you with the promise of juicy meat within. While the aroma and smoothness of the peanut sauce and vegetables of the Kare-Kare adds up to the anticipation that there is nothing to be scared about regarding the usually vicious Filipino cuisine. Third, this amazing fusion and mingling of 2 Filipino dishes can be found in Abe, the leading Filipino restaurant here in the Philippines. I know Jollibee is all around the Philippines in which there really is no challenge at all on locating one, but the travel experience of trying to locate and finding your way to the best local restaurant of a country really adds up to some travel adventure in a foreign country. The experience is like being an Australian trying to locate the best Turkish restaurant in Turkey or a Japanese tourist trying to trace the location of the best Italian restaurant in Italy. As of now, let me message all foreign tourists, vloggers and bloggers that chronicling your Jollibee experience is a tired format and exhausted routine. Try something more interesting and really more Pinoy. Try Knock Out Kare Kare for it will surely knock your wits off! Aba’y deserbing!
