They’ll Never Love You Like I Can

love photo

Having so much love to give that is already spilling out of the brim yet no one wants to take is the most pathetic feeling.  This is according to last Friday’s episode of Forevermore, a Filipino TV series shown nightly.

I guess I would have to agree on it for I have been experiencing the same for the last 22 million years.  But still I’m hopeful that my patience will pay off and my waiting to give away love will pass like what a bad season does.

While patiently waiting, I am singing Sam Smith’s latest single entitled Like I Can

Get Sucked Into 2Cellos’ Melodic Vortex

About a month ago, I indicated in this blog that the cello is one of my most favorite musical instruments.  This post further proves why I love the sexy looking cello.

Only did I recently discovered that there is a magnificent duo who performs music covers of cool mainstream songs using the cello.  They are the Croatian cellists Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser, together known as 2Cellos.

Aside from playing magnificent music that ranges from smooth classical to mainstream pop to heavy acid metal, what is so extra cool about the 2Cellos is their stage presence.  Their playing the cello is so infectious and electrifying. Their intense facial expressions, head-banging and feet-stomping are all incredibly virtuosic.  Their playing is so passionate you could at times hear their deep breathing and actually see how the hair of their bows gets so torn. Moreover, it doesn’t hurt that both looks adorable.

Now you listen to these and get sucked into some melodic vortex!

Proving Ellen’s Fun Power for Nick the Gardener

Hahaha! Ellen’s gardener already got a movie offer!  This only shows how powerful Ellen DeGeneres could be…

Charming and now-the-world’s favorite gardener, Nick, got a call from no less than Channing Tatum to inform him that he is in the upcoming Magic Mike movie.  The adorable guy really looked moved and surprised!

obviously surprised...

obviously surprised…

Now that Nick The Gardener will be in the next Magic Mike movie, it shall be something to look forward to then.  It would definitely be a fun booster blast if Ellen would do a cameo!

Lighting Candles

Not regularly going to church to attend the Holy Mass is something that I am not definitely proud of.  But aside from dipping my index and middle finger in a bowl of Holy Water upon entry and exit, the other thing I love doing when inside a Catholic Church is lighting up candles.

candles i lit in baclaran church in the middle of the night

candles i lit in baclaran church in the middle of the night

That is why every time I have the sweet opportunity to light candles inside a church, I always light five of it.  One for me, one for Nengkoy and Joe, one for my beautiful family, another for my friends and colleagues while the last one is for the one whom I have patiently been waiting for.

For me, lighting up candles is like toting up an interactive medium towards one’s prayer.  One does not simply say a prayer instead such request, petition, gratitude, supplication or wish are conveyed to the heavens with a cool and funky symbolism.

Applause for Nick the Gardener

I know how much it takes to achieve a hot gorgeous body.  It doesn’t only take few exercises and a good set of genes.  It takes a lot of physical workouts, a pretty good knowledge about concepts of human musculature and isometrics, good knowhow about nutrition and of course loads and loads of time, sacrifices and attitude.  And once you achieved your goal you must not stop.  It again takes loads of what I just enumerated to maintain it.

That is why I praise and applause all those human beings who were able to achieve their physical goal and successfully maintains it.

Just like Nick the Gardener.  Here’s an enjoyable clip when powerful Ellen pushed for Nick to be included in a Hollywood movie.

I have not seen the movie Magic Mike.  But after that, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he got at least a small part in the movie.  And because of this, it looks like there will be a pretty good chance that I will be watching the sequel.

Nick the Gardener must have worked so hard to achieve that.  Good for him!

Whipped By A One-Eyed Monster

One of the luxuries which I would really like to do is travel.  It simply brings a different level of joy and happiness.  The experience is definitely an intangible that no one can rob or steal away from you.   That is why when I saw this video via Stumbleupon.com, it felt like my body was being smashed and my spirit was being whipped by a one-eyed monster called ‘envy’.

How I wish I have the loads of opportunity and the luxury of time to do all those stuff that this guy has done and experienced. I’m pretty sure his soul is so full to the brim.

And since travelling entails plump amount of dough, as a retaliation to this one-eyed monster, I simply settled with the thought that ‘if the grass is greener at the other side of the fence, you can bet their water bill is higher’

Feeling Charmed by The Way He Looks

From my own personal observations and from what I have seen so far, pink movies usually have tragic or sad endings.  It usually has too much or prolonged erotic scenes, it is fully packed with emotional wallop and it’s either too heavy or too flamboyant in terms of plot and characters. Everything seems too extreme making gay movies too cinematic.

Glad to note that all of these observations about a gay movie are not present in the Brazilian feature length film entitled The Way He Looks (original title: Hoje Eu Quero Voltar Sozinho) directed by Daniel Ribeiro.

the way he looks

About two or three years ago, I saw on YouTube the short film version of this movie where it was adapted and directed by the same director.  That is why when YouTube recommended on its page the full length movie’s trailer I initially got confused.  I was telling myself I already saw that adorable film but the images of the movie and the appearances of the characters seem to have changed.  I thought the teaser was a continuation of the short film version and that the characters have grown a bit.  Out of curiosity, I searched for the film online.  I only realized that the director did a re-make of the short film into a new full length movie after I have clicked and searched YouTube.

Luckily for me but unfortunately for filmmaker Ribeiro, the full length version is available on YouTube.  This enabled me to watch and appreciate the beauty and excellence of the film.  Everything about this movie (both the short and the full-length versions) though simply expressed and executed, seem so brilliant – the light, lovable and innocent quality of the storyline, the captivating fineness of the actors, the distinction of the editing and production design and of course the cleverness of the director.

Even the endearing soundtrack is so merit-worthy.  I am now so in love with the song ‘There’s Too Much Love’ by Belle & Sebastian.  My favorite scene in the film includes the playing of this song!  For me it was not the light kissing scene that is the most tender and most charming part of the movie.  Rather it was when Gabriel was teaching the blind Leo how to dance while ‘There’s Too Much Love’ tune is playing.

Another appealing and impressive things about the movie is that it is not just about young gay romance.  It is also about delightful family relationship, super friendship, boosting of self-worth and the quest for independence.

This movie deserves to be released commercially here in the Philippines.  And if it does, expect me to be queuing at the box office and I would definitely be the first person in line.

Libre ko kayo pag pinalabas yan dito sa ‘Pinas.

Matt Bomer For The Win

matt bomer

matt bomer as felix

When I learned in the past (about a year ago or so) that Matt Bomer was not considered to play the role of Christian Grey for the movie adaptation of the massive hit novel 50 Shades of Grey, I was glad.  Besides the face of Matt Bomer is buckets-full prettier that the visualized looks of Christian Grey.

I was glad that I will never have to be compelled on seeing that movie, because otherwise, I would have to watch it simply because Matt was in it.  Though 50 Shades of Grey was a massive hit novel series, I can profess that I am among the few adults on this planet who has not read it.  And I don’t have any plans neither intentions of reading it anytime soon or anytime in the future.  Reason?  I actually don’t know.

mattbomernormalheartI guess destiny did not allow Matt Bomer to star in 50 Shades because the universe intended him to star in a much much better material that is The Normal Heart.  I saw this HBO film, adapted from the autobiographical play with the same title two months ago.  And this movie definitely deserves an Emmy-worthy recognition for Matt. His characterization on his role as Felix in the film was no big joke.  He loosed 35 pounds for it.

But beyond Matt’s physical transformation in the film, he was hauntingly amazing in this movie!  He was the heart-wrencher in the story that will make you feel the pain.  I saw the film 2 months ago and yet the drama, the thunderous message and Matt’s powerful performance still lingers in my mind.  His character was definitely louder than the beat of a normal heart.

The Normal Heart is out for sale on DVD and Blu-ray format on August 28, 2014 – which I predict as – 3 days after Matt Bomer has gone home with an Emmy trophy.

Goto on Father’s Day

yum yum!

yum yum!

Some would sneak out of the bedroom to have a bar of chocolate or a decent pint of ice cream.  Others would have a bag of cookies or even prepare themselves a hearty sandwich.  These are some of the common food chows people eat if they would have a midnight snack.

I never have cravings for a midnight snack, and if I would have one, I would go for a super bowl of “goto”.  I don’t know the English word for goto.  But it’s a hot rice porridge with meat innards (usually ox tripe and intestines) topped with chopped leeks, toasted garlic and a squeeze of the ever versatile calamansi fruit.

Psychology reveals that patterns for adult food choices is based on childhood influences, socio-economic life course and obviously the physiological state of hunger.  I believe on all these three factors.  But my choosing goto as a midnight snack is based on the first.  My childhood influence.  This is basically because of my father.

happy father's day tatay!

a true dad knows how to and not ashamed to do the laundry… happy father’s day tatay!

During my days living in Pasay, my father religiously fetched Nengkoy from work when she would render overtime reaching until the wee hours of night.  Before my parents would head home, they would drop by a goto store to purchase this superb rice soup.

And when they would arrive home, both would wake up all of us (their children, including the maid) so as to enjoy the tasty goto.  Heavy-eyed, lethargic and drowsy, I would slurp a mouthful which would definitely wake me up.  This has become a very long habit of my family in Pasay until my father has gone sick and Nengkoy retired from work.

Now that I am an adult, has lived independently from my family and my father has gone to heaven, today’s Father’s Day I guess would be so nice to have a midnight snack.  Definitely, that would be some big bowl of hot delicious goto.

Happy Father’s Day to everyone…

Undercover Boss Makes My Heart Melt

undercover bossIt’s the reality show that doesn’t have a loser because no one gets eliminated.  It’s a reality show that is not a contest but everybody in the end turns out to become a winner.  It’s a reality show in which auditioning is not needed.  And lastly, it is the reality show in which the setting is not in a controlled environment.  I am talking about the Undercover Boss shown here in the Philippines under Solar News Channel.

Undercover Boss talks and tackles what real life really is.  As in the real life!  It’s as genuine as it can be about family, work, hobbies, dreams, personal struggles, frustrations and aspirations.    Aside from the boss being subjected to actual physical labor, what I like most about this show is how people’s passion and drive to succeed are presented, may you be a boss or a simple employee.  I see Undercover Boss not a show about job or work but more about human relations.  It is about social and interpersonal relations between human beings.

jeff platt, ceo of sky zone... he last episode I have so far seen...

jeff platt, ceo of sky zone (a goodhearted prince of generosity)… the last episode that i have seen and made me copiously weep

Each episode is a true heart melt-er! Especially during the ‘boss reveal’ portion of the show.  These bosses would shower their deserving staff with gifts, opportunities and brighter future.   Niagara Falls would always gush out of my eyes and there would always be a lump in my throat at the end each episode because of the moving and exceeding generosity of those featured bosses.  These business owners or corporate executives just turn out to be real life angels sent by some heavenly gods!

Call it a great marketing device, but because of these moving kindness, every time I finished watching an episode I would always want to try out the product or service of the company that was featured.  Too bad (or call it fortunately) these companies does not run business here in Manila.
