Karen & Denton: Engaged!

Karen & Denton's "Mini Me"

Joesel Javier, my Pinoy-Aussie friend who exclusively flew from Sydney to Manila to attend our dear friends Karen & Denton’s Engagement Party was a little ill passed up the task to say few words during the program.  Karen then passed on the mission to me which I deemed as an honored privilege.  Here’s the full text of what I said last night…

Royal Palm Hotel was the site where the beautiful bond between Karen & Denton started.  Karen as the Account Executive and Denton as one of the trainee-participants in one of the functions held in the hotel.  That was is the mid-90’s.

I remember Karen telling me when she finally answered yes to Denton.  A task was given to Denton before she finally said YES.  That is, she asked Denton, the quiet and reserved type, to sing few lines of a song over their phone conversation.  Eh in-love ang mokong, ayun! Kumanta ang Denton!

In the previous decade, their relationship no doubt flourished.  I can proudly say that I have been a good witness in the dynamics of these royalties’ relationship.  I said royalties because I personally tagged them as the crowned prince and princess of Armidale.

I am one of their usual companions when they would spend their holidays out of town or out of the country.  I have been with them in Macau, Hongkong, Singapore, twice in Sydney, in Melbourne, in Bohol, in Boracay and just a week ago in Bellarocca in Marinduque.  I’ve seen them dance, I’ve seen them kissed,  I’ve seen them laugh, I’ve seen them fight and recently in our Marinduque adventure I’ve seen them sang a song together!

When I would brag and present my travel photos to my mom, she once commented that I always travel with Karen & Denton.  She even asked if I was the “dakilang alalay” of these two.  I just answered her, “No Nanay, they are my alalays  na-in love lang sa isa’t isa”.

Anyway, to you Karen & Denton, a successful relationship is tested and requires falling in love many times always with the same person. A successful relationship is like a dance of two people, moving gracefully and intimately.  And I have been your “delicious” witness.

The dance of life with a Facebook status of “In A Relationship”, the boyfriend and girlfriend take turns in leading the dance.  My wish for you Karen & Denton is that you never stop dancing ‘till beyond.  Cheers to the both of them!!!

Mwah! Mwah! Tsup! Tsup!

Do you have “The One That Got Away”?

Human beings 40 years old and above at one point in their early lives has encountered a special relationship with another person may it be in the form of unexplainable infatuation, true love or irrational lust.  It is the special feeling that you at such a tender age thought would last forever.  But at some point in time it is destiny who will judge that both your cards just didn’t fall the right way which results to your drifting apart.

Since destiny joked on you by encountering unexplainable and uncontrolled circumstances, feelings of regrets sets in.  Longingness to relive the special feelings and yearning to revive the failed sensation ensues.  This regret, longingness and yearning is like an unresolved bump in the throat, it is like an unsolved crime caused by incomprehensible mystery.

As you age, the only option you will have is to admit, recognize and endure that the person whom you had a failed mystifying affection for is the One That Got Away…

Kung ikaw ay cuarenta pataas at wala ka nito, siguro dahil ikaw ay isang pinagpala o kaya’y di ka lumalabas ng bahay sins bert. : )

Sing Lek Lek Thee Riak Wa Ruk

Though all movies shown in the Philippines for the last two weeks of 2010 are all Filipino-made (due to the Metro Manila Film Festival) and every citizen has flocked the movie houses, I have yet to watch one.

And since I seem to belong to the odd segment of humanity that always made me wonder what parallel in the universe am I in, the last film that I was able to watch last year was neither a Filipino nor a Hollywood movie. It’s Thai! The movie is entitled Sing Lek Lek Thee Riak Wa Ruk starring Mario Maurer and Pimchanok Luewisedpaibon.

It’s a feel good comedy film about a schoolgirl’s undying crush towards a campus heartthrob.  The characters were so effective and the mesmerizing “kilig” (giddy fuzzy feeling) factor was so pure.  They were loads of endearing charm and cuteness presented in multiple solid laughs.  But what made it so wacky was because of the supporting role played by Sudarat “Tukky” Butprom.  Tukky as the English Teacher was so hilarious.  I wanted her to be always on the screen as the story progress for she was a BLAST!

The movie also deals about genuine friendship, youth’s struggle to look good and feel good, youthful fun and life’s simplicity. It’s pure entertainment full of unadulterated charm that is hard to resist.  It will make you truly realize that sometimes the simple unfussy entertainment is the one that comes off best.

In a more serious note, it is about life’s struggle to be better anchored on undying love and (pronouncing like how Tukky pronounced it in the movie…) INSPIRATION.

If I only have enough bucks and have the right connections, I am all but willing to produce the Philippine release of this movie.  I will not remake it to be played by Pinoy thespians but release it like it is.  I’m sure it will be a big hit!

Imadyin, tong tanda kong ‘to.  Kinikilig pa pala.  Mwahahaha! *evil laugh*
