Renaldo Diaz, You Rock!

I just can’t ignore this! It is a must for every Pinoy blog to contain. It’s Renaldo Lapuz, a Filipino who recently auditioned in American Idol Season 7. Watching this clip made me proud to be Pinoy and at the same time gave me mega-hysteria.

I’m proud because only good things would come out of his mouth and in fairness he can actually carry a tune. He exudes majesty, charisma, style, creativity, courteousness, originality, graciousness and sincerity!

Caution: after hearing the song, it will forever be looping inside your brain. Let’s sing together now… “Ay em yor broder, yor bespren por-eber…”

It’s freakin’ hilarious yet heart warming! Astig ka pare ko!

Luis Clamor

Patis He is a 10-year old kid who thinks like a 30-year old man.  He is a 3rd honor student who can’t be a 2nd or 1st since the 1st honor of the class is the child of the principal and the 2nd honor is the child of his teacher.

A cool dude in his own right, the only child of Ate Gaying and Kuya Willy who enyoys playing with his cousins, the favorite nemesis of Erika, the barkada of Denden, the sweetheart of Nengkoy, the patis of Kuya Wreigh.

He is a kiddo that is well nursed and provided with by his parents, from books to clothes to shoes to foodstuffs to plastic toys to electronic toys.

He is a boob tube addict who can spend the whole day with Mr. Bean, The Rugrats, Dexter’s Laboratory, Picachu, Sponge Bob Square Pants, Tom and Gerry, Avatar, Muk, Robot Boy and a lot more.

One of my darkest skinned Ilocano looking nephew, Luis Clamor is the kid who celebrated his 10th birthday last July 12.

Happy Birthday Patis!

A Spice Called UMA…

Uma2 It’s Uma to the rescue!  A welcome change from the monotonous and boring past episodes, it’s about time a genuine housemate enters the house.  Uma Khouny known for his sharp wit, brutal honesty and blunt comments added spice into Pinoy Big Brother Season 2.

I can still recall the first season when Uma with atrocious frankness would give his vicious opinions about Jo D Mango (having a face of a worm), Madam Auring (having a scary face), Boy Abunda (having a bad fashion taste) and Kris Aquino (too "kikay" self-conscious to be the country’s president) which actually made eyebrows raised.  Truth hurts you know?!

Uma Unlike the first season, almost all of season 2’s housemates are bland and unexciting that is why I seldom watch the show. With more than 100 days running, the two episodes when Uma was in the house were the most exciting and most hilarious.  True to the analysis of Uma, this season’s housemates play the game too safely to the point of being pretentious and mind-numbs.  Uma simply brought the house down and gave life back to PBB2.  He was all but natural.

I’m sure even Big Brother himself enjoyed Uma’s stay inside the house.

Melinda Doolittle Do Lots

Melinda_1  She sounds beautiful.  She is the fantastic force to reckon with this season.  She is the example of a genuine talent.  She exudes positive energy through her upbeat character and pleasant personality.  She sings with art and passion.  She makes you feel the songs she sings. She gives me goose bumps every time she sings.  She is Melinda Doolittle.

If this lady will lose and be eliminated this season’s Americal Idol, this will confirm how stupid Americans are. Likewise, this proves to show that votefortheworst.com has been very successful with its mission.

Anyway, with such an awesome talent, Melinda does not need American Idol.  But with other boring and mediocre contestants selected this season, American Idol definitely needs her!

Basta I like Melinda. She’s so precious…

Amazing Charla!

I am an avid fan of Amazing Race and I am so glad that my favorite duo in all seasons of the show is back on TV.  Totally insane Mirna and full of energy with such a small built Charla from Season 5 has joined the race again for the all-star edition.  They were my favorite because there would be episodes that you would hate the two and the next episode you would love them back.

Season 5 edition was sooo fun and entertaining to watch because of these two crazy ladies. I particularly liked Charla.  She has some form of dwarfism (only 4 feet tall) and is so funny yet inspiring.  I liked her because she never let her very short height be an impediment throughout the race.  She can actually be a bitch if she needs to.

Mirna_1 Though she has short legs and can’t run fast like her competitors, she made use of it as an advantage by hilariously duping people that she is sick and needs a doctor just to get a plane seat and be ahead in the race. The vertically challenged lady is so determined to win. I also remember her carrying a big slob of carcass (even bigger than her, I think) because her lanky “maarte-funny-kinda-way” partner Marla could no longer carry it for another half mile to complete a challenge.

I felt so sad and awful when the duo got eliminated in the Season 5 of the race.  Even the unflappable Phil (the host) got so teary eyed for he himself was moved on what Charla told him:

“I just wanted to prove to the world how much I can do, and it’s not easy when there’s… always people thinking you can’t do it and you have to work extra hard to do it… (but) you have to do it.  You have to accomplish your dreams.”

After such a heartwarming speech when she was bidding goodbye, I can still recall Phil with tears in his eyes saying to Charla… “You have an amazing spirit.”

Now that they’re back, I’m totally rooting for this duo…

Tsugi na si Sidney Sheldon

During my college years, my favorite novelist was Sidney Sheldon.  I still remember during breaks and in between classes when my classmates Jong (Villas), Karen (Batangan), Marie (Dela Victoria) and I would talk and discuss about the events that transpired in “Rage of Angels”, “Master of the Game”, “Bloodline” and “If Tomorrow Comes”

I can still recall those week nights when I could not put the (borrowed) book down because of the high degree of suspense and the clever plots of the story that kept me turning the pages.  What is best about a Sheldon novel is, you will be kept hanging at the end of each chapter that will leave you with no choice but to continue reading the next one.

Sidney Too bad he passed away.  He died last January 29 due to pneumonia complications at the age of 89.  Nevertheless, a few months back, I bought “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” one of his most recent novels before he said adios to this so called Earth.

From all the Sheldon novels that I have read, my personal favorite is “The Other Side of Midnight”.  Sheldon published it in 1973.  I still remember Noelle Page, Catherine Alexander and the playboy Larry Douglas as the main characters.

Sheldon My first encounter with this novel was not reading the book but watching the movie version of the story released in 1977.  My father brought home an original Betamax copy of “The Other Side of Midnight” from Saudi Arabia and I got so impressed with the story.  VHS or CD was not yet available during those years and it was cool to own a betamax then.  During those early days of my life, I never knew that such movie was based from Sheldon’s novel until I reached college.

Alive or tsugi, I loved Sheldon.

Putting Vina’s Muscle into Good Use

Vina Vina Morales, the Pinay singer whose body form has been ostracized and ridiculed by Pinoys for being too muscular for a lady is in the news.  Well, Vina must have felt that one day she will be using her well toned muscles in good use.  All those days spent in the gym has finally paid off.  Indeed she did!

I never knew that Vina Morales could be so feisty.  It was bravura news when I learned that she whacked the face of Borgy Monotoc (model, politician-to-be, grandson of Imelda Marcos) days after revealing in a live radio interview that he had a one night stand with androgenous Vina.  Resulting for his lips to bleed! Mwahahaha!

Borgy deserve it for having such a big mouth literally and figuratively.  Umuwing duguan ang mokong!  As for Vina, I think this was the best performance of her life.  Bravo Vina bravo!

Teri Asim & Her Flavorful Text Messages

Terry_2 A lot of Pinoy celebrities confess that they would receive regular text messages from the Pinoy Diamond Star Maricel Soriano.  They would explain that these messages would serve as small but meaningful reminders and would sometimes help them cope with life’s trials.

I can say that I feel the same because I also receive text messages on a regular basis.  It’s not from Maricel Soriano but from a good friend Terry “Asim” Asombrado.  I’ve known Terry for more than 8 years now.  I guess I have always been right on calling her “Terry Asim”.  Not because she smells sour but because she has sent me dashes of flavors on life’s wisdoms through her text messages.

Here’s a dozen of what she sent…

  1. Life holds no promises to what will come our way.  It makes no guarantees over what we get.  It just gives us time to make choices and take chances.
  2. It is wiser not to expect but hope; for in expecting, we meet disappointments.  Whereas in hoping, we invite surprises… and miracles.
  3. Cry for a while but not for a long time… You take goodbyes but keep moving on… Ganyan lang ang buhay sometime huhuhu… but have a countless reasons to hahaha…
  4. Let’s begin the day with a short prayer: “Lord walk with me today.  I have no idea what lies ahead.  Be my guide and strength in all that I do.  For Your Glory.  Amen.”
  5. In life there are three things that can never be retrieved… Spoken words, time passed and neglected opportunities.  So don’t miss them.  Enjoy life!
  6. Quiz given to 200 applicants for a single job… Situation: You are driving along a stormy night.  You passed by a bus stop where you see three people waiting. (1) an elderly woman who’s about to die (2) an old friends who once saved your life (3) the perfect mate you’ve been dreaming about.  Who would your choose knowing there could only be one passenger in your car?  The answer of the one who was hired was: “I would give my car key to my friends and let him take the elderly woman to the hospital.  Then, I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the person of my dreams”.
  7. Six pieces of advice from Iman Ghazali: (1) Closest to us is not family, but death (2) Furtherest from us is not the moon or stars, but time passed (3) Biggest is not the mountain or sun, but your lust/desire (4) Heaviest weight is not the elephant or iron, but responsibility (5) Lightest is neither wind nor feathers, but not praying or delaying it (6) Sharpest is neither knife nr sword, but your tongue.  Think about these words of wisdom…
  8. Most of the things we desire are expensive.  But the truth is the things that really satisfy us are free… laughter, family, true friends and most of all “God’s Love!”
  9. Lately, I learned that friendship is the best relationship.  We may g separate ways, live different lives, believe in different aspects.  Bus as long as we believe we’re friends, we will forever be…
  10. To love is a duty.  To be loved is a gift. To love someone who loves you is an achievement.  To be loved by someone who you love is… Life!
  11. A heart breaking story… The ex-girlfriend confronts the ex-boyfriend.  Ex-girlfriend: “How dare you play our song in your wedding ceremony… How dare you pick my favorite color as your motif… How dare you choose our anniversary date as your wedding date… How dare you look at me before you kiss your wife…” The ex-girlfriend breaks down and cried.  Ex-boyfriend: “Because that’s the last and only way I could pretend that you are my wife”.
  12. "A blessed day" deserves a joyful smile and thanksgiving to the Creator who makes wonderful things happen to wonderful people like you…

Look who’s talking! Watch what your saying Sharon!

Sharon Sharon bothered?  In the news, the Pinoy megastar Sharon Cuneta was being interviewed and is reacting that she has been so bothered by the ongoing news on Metro Manila mayors being suspended left and right.

In the interview Sharon says, "If mayors were found to be corrupt let’s put them in jail not just suspend them.  But make sure of the proofs please."  Look who’s talking!!! Sharon… the loving daughter of the late and former mayor of Pasay City, Pablo Cuneta.

I have written quite a lot already about how bad Pasay is.  I am a living witness on the condition of Pasay since I have been born, raised, presently living and will be laid to rest in this city.  (Yeah, I bought a columbarium space in St. Therese Church near the mega-controversial NAIA Terminal 3 – but will write about it some other time).

I grew up having Pablo Cuneta as my mayor.  Like what it is now, Pasay has been like the way it is… corrupted!  Sharon’s father is no different from these suspended and soon to be suspended mayors.  Everybody knows how corrupted her father was.  It’s just that no one wants to speak-up and dig-out her father’s issues out of respect for the late mayor and for her since everybody’s been so busy being starstrucked with her.

One piece of advice for the megastar on this issue… she should shut the hell up!

A piece of Madonna’s Heart

I was a bit excited to see on how the adopted kid of Madonna would look like.  There has been news a couple of days ago that she is to adopt a one-year old child from Malawi, an impoverished country in Africa.

When I tried to surf the internet regarding this information, I found out that Madonna adopting a child was nothing but a rumor.  However, I read in other news that Madonna after her very successful world tour this year was in the said country to start her project called ‘Raising Malawi’.  Madonna pledged £1.6 million (that’s 150 million pesos) for this project that will provide food, safe water, shelter and education to the orphaned children on Malawi.

So the rumor nonetheless is still true, it’s just that Madonna is not only adopting one child.  She’s actually adopting the whole children population of one country.

Ang taray ng lola mo!
